Safety First
Safety is at the heart of our work as a transportation agency. At the end of the day, we want to make sure people can get home whether they’re walking, driving, biking, or riding transit. We’re focused on creating a transportation network that serves people of all ages and abilities - from our youngest to our oldest travelers and everyone in between. And when winter weather or other emergencies come up, we work to keep our streets clear so emergency vehicles and transit can keep people and goods moving.
Vision Zero
We're working to end traffic deaths and serious injuries on city streets by 2030. Learn more about our engineering and education efforts, and how we’re coordinating with Seattle Police Department on data-driven enforcement to target high crash areas and the primary behaviors that contribute to crashes.
Traffic Operations
We work with and respond to resident concerns and requests regarding speeding, traffic safety, signs, and other issues related to improving safety on neighborhood streets. We also proactively make engineering improvements at high-collisions intersections across the city.
Landslide Response & Repair

Safe Routes to School
Walking and biking to school is a great way for kids to be active, and we want to make it safer and easier for them to do so. We invest in engineering, education, and encouragement campaigns at schools throughout Seattle.
Winter Weather Response
Snow and ice can occur in Seattle, and we need to be ready when they hit. Learn more about our Winter Weather plan and how to prepare yourself for storms.
SDOT Response Team
The SDOT Response Team helps keep traffic moving by clearing debris and vehicles blocking city streets; by helping motorists; and by working with police, firefighters, and other partners.
