Grading Code
See also: Grading Permit, Grading Season Extensions, Side Sewer Code, Stormwater Code
What Is It?
Our Grading Code is designed to protect the graded site and adjoining property, preserve natural drainage patterns and watercourses, and control pollution. All grading activity must comply with the code, whether or not it requires a permit or approval from us. The code applies to:
- Permanent and temporary grading
- Land-disturbing activities such as replacement of impervious surface (surface that sheds water)
- Maintenance and protection of grades, slopes, and soil stability
Our code requires that you protect adjoining property, control erosion, and install fencing, boundary designation, and temporary stockpiling during grading activity. The code also specifies when we require permit or approval for grading activity.
