Bio + -
I have been a Seattle Police officer for 28 years, serving in the North, West, and South Precincts. I am honored to return to the West Precinct. I have spent all my career in patrol assignments, as I have a personal mission to both prevent and interrupt crime. Working on the street has built my toolbox of ideas and strategies I will use to increase public safety. As a Sergeant in the West Precinct, I supervised a pro-active bicycle squad and an Anti-Crime Team. As a Lieutenant, I was a downtown Watch Commander and later the Operations Lieutenant for the West Precinct. I have a passion for the work of officers serving the various needs of the West Precinct communities and businesses. I look forward to supporting our officers and community partners as we collaborate.
Recently, I completed the UChicago Policing Leadership Academy (PLA) as well as the Senior Management Institute for Police (SMIP). I earned my bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois in Mathematics and Computer Science. I also served in the United States Navy from 1990 to 1994. I was a nighttime public safety servant in a tribal village in the Aleutian Islands, Alaska. I was also a seasonal ranger with the National Park Service before joining the Seattle Police Department. During my career, I have received numerous departmental awards, including a department-wide Officer of the Year in 2008, along with recognition for excellence in Domestic Violence investigations.
It is a pleasure to be your new West Precinct Commander.
