Dr. Blanche Lavizzo Park Play Area Renovation

Construction at Dr. Blance Lavizzo Park has begun! Volunteers will be onsite beginning Tuesday, October 24 to prep the site for the new equipment installation on Thursday, October 26.
Equipment installation will begin on Thursday, October 26 at 8:30 a.m. Following the installation there will be a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate at 2:30 p.m.
Seattle Parks and Recreation(SPR), Seattle Conservation Corps and the volunteers from CarMax who will build out this project will work to minimize construction impacts on the park and neighborhood. Two play areas located close and available during this closure are Pratt Park at 201 20th Ave S, Seattle, WA 98144, or the recently renovated Spruce Street Mini Park at 160 21st Ave, Seattle, WA 98122, about a 10-minute walk from Dr. Blanche Lavizzo Park.
Seattle Parks and Recreation is proud to partner on the Dr. Blanche Lavizzo Play Area Renovation project with KABOOM!, a non-profit organization that helps communities build playgrounds, The McKinney Center for Community & Economic Development, a community preservation and Development authority named in honor of the Rev. Dr. Samuel Berry McKinney, and Associated Recreation Council (ARC), a longtime SPR partner that offers a variety of recreational and lifelong learning programs, classes and activities.

This project will replace the play equipment and make associated improvements to the play area space.
