Job Readiness Opportunities for Teens
Teens!
Seattle Parks and Recreation and other City agencies offer several different job readiness programs, internships, support with employment pathways and some job opportunities passed on to you, mostly in summer. Some pay by the hour, while others offer a stipend (to compensate for any costs or growth from the program offerings) and/or service hours. Whether your interest is in indoor or outdoor jobs, getting ready to enter the job market is an important step in your life.
These opportunities are a great way to grow, get involved with your community, learn basic employment skills and, last but not least, earn some money!
These programs are for youth Living in Seattle or attend the Seattle School District.

The goal of this training is to provide instruction to youth about writing a resume, practice interviewing, learn and practice communication skills, and much more.

A stipend will be offered depending on the length of the program. Must complete the program to receive a stipend. Details on completion are given when signing up.

College Tours
Exploring your future? Wondering what college life is like? Great news!
Every quarter, our staff organizes college tours for local schools, providing you a glimpse of the college experience. You can discover firsthand the real experiences of other attendees, learn about information on costs and available financial support, and explore the various fields of study offered on campus. Each visit is a unique experience based on the location you choose and the people you interact with.
If this sparks your interest, please contact Teen.Programs@seattle.gov and ask to be added to our email list. We will keep you informed through emails and informative flyers when these opportunities become available.
Basketball Scorers and Timers
During basketball season (Fall and Winter), community centers need scorers and timers. This opportunity pays $20 an hour to start; candidates must attend a mandatory training and be able to work on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from January through March. Scorers and timers are paid on a site-by-site basis. If you are interested, please ask at your local community center.
Workshops
Watch for workshops offered at various Teen Life Centers and community centers. These workshops are unpaid but provide much-needed information on topics like jobs and the prep work, college and financial aid applications, banking and financial futures; work performance improvements, food worker cards, and more.
