About

Virgil Flaim Park is a spacious park located near the Lake City Community Center, Lake City Library, and commercial core. The park features paved paths, a large playground with equipment for all ages, basketball courts, drinking fountain and a new skateboard park. Picnickers will enjoy the shade trees, grills, and tables on site. There's also a large lawn area for running and open space play. Parking is located on a gravel strip along 26th Ave NE and NE 123rd Street.

Originally built as an elementary school playground, Parks acquired the site in 1987 when the school closed. In 2009 it was named for Virgil Flaim (1923-2006), who had deep roots in the Lake City Community. Involved with the Lake City Community Center for over 50 years, he served as its Executive Director from 1985-2004.

Lake City Skatespot added to Virgil Flaim Park in 2017

The Lake City Skatespot project added a small skateboard park (skatespot), relocated the basketball court, and added other amenities and improvements at Virgil Flaim Park.
