About

Laurelhurst Community Center is located at the top of a steep hill in the midst of the Laurelhurst residential neighborhood, offering great views of Lake Washington and near Children's Hospital, University Village, Magnuson Park and the University of Washington. The setting is the beautiful Laurelhurst Park, which includes a large play area, baseball fields, soccer fields, tennis courts and a walking path around the park.

The original "fieldhouse" was competed in 1935. A 2006 renovation includes a 4,150-square-foot addition on the west side of the building featuring a modern interior with vaulted ceilings, lots of exterior windows and natural wood. The lobby includes the front desk, piano and sitting area. Off of the lobby is the Fireside Room with plenty of seating and an adjacent commercial quality kitchen, a large exterior window and a cozy fireplace. The multipurpose room faces west with a peek-a-boo view of Lake Washington and the University of Washington. Downstairs are restrooms, a quaint pottery room and a kiln room.

The Community Center reopened in Fall 2024 after addressing approximately 200 documented barriers to accessibility and now has improved accessible parking stalls at the south and east entrances, more accessible pathways and ramps, and other interior accessibility improvements in the toilet rooms, multi-purpose rooms, kitchen, classrooms, and exercise rooms.
