Mickey Merriam Field 8 At Magnuson Synthetic Turf Replacement

Updated: December 2, 2024

Fall 2024

Seattle Parks and Recreation issued the notice to proceed on Thursday, October 31 to Coast to Coast Turf for the project. Coast to Coast will mobilize on site in early November to start the turf replacement construction project.

This project will replace the aging synthetic turf at the infield, approximately 25,600 square feet, which is nearing the end of its useful life. This will include the removal of the old ‘worn out’ synthetic turf and regrading the area where soil settlement has occurred over time. Additionally, the accessible route from parking lot E5 to the playfield will be updated to meet current accessibility standards.

The field will be closed during construction. Seattle Parks and Recreation (SPR) and the contractor hired for the project will work to minimize impacts to the roadways and neighborhood.

SPR continues to lead the way in developing and installing alternate synthetic turf field design materials to deliver a safe, durable, and playable athletic facility and experience.
