To increase project efficiency, the original Cal Anderson play area renovation was bundled and put out to bid with renovations for two other play areas: the West Arboretum Tot Lot (E. Lynn and 26th E.), and Soundview Terrace. We awarded the construction contract for all three projects to LW Sundstrom, Inc.
- The Cal Anderson project should be completed by the end of July 2023, as we work diligently to open the area.
- We will start construction on the Soundview Terrace play area renovation around July 17 and work through August.
History of Cal Anderson Play Area
aprevious small play structure was installed in 1999 and needed replacement. The site is often used as small gathering space for local groups, library programming, and as an entrance to the Arboretum and, of course fun play for kids.
The Montlake community provided early input on the Tot lot playground replacement project by reviewing options for the play area and taking an online survey. The project design team is reviewing the input to consider what is important to you at the tot lot play area.
