Sustainable, Equitably Sourced School Meals
OSE provides technical assistance and funding to support SPS Culinary Services with increasing school meals made with fresh, sustainable ingredients. OSE staff provide technical assistance to SPS Culinary Services staff for values-based purchasing of sustainable, nutritious and culturally relevant ingredients for school meals from local farmers, fisheries, and food businesses, especially those owned by Black, Indigenous, or People of Color (BIPOC). Assistance includes supplier outreach and development of values-based procurement processes. OSE also provides funds that SPS Culinary Services for direct purchases of ingredients and increasing staff capacity for values-based food purchasing.
