Human Resources
Human Resources staff continues its commitment to the City's Race and Social Justice Initiative, focusing on broad recruiting efforts to guarantee a diverse applicant pool. The safety, security, and well-being of CAO staff is a top priority. Human Resources organizes emergency preparedness trainings, as well as notifies employees of numerous other City-sponsored trainings and wellness events.

Volunteer, Internship, and Externship Programs
The City Attorney's Office has a long history of providing opportunities for interns, externs, and volunteers to learn more about the legal process and the criminal justice system.
CAO Criminal Division participants learn about the criminal justice system while combining classroom knowledge with on the job training. Law students work side by side with prosecutors to learn the basics of case preparation, filing, and trial work. Open to undergraduate students and law students.
CAO Civil Division hosts volunteer legal externs. Law students conduct legal research, write briefs, observe court proceedings, and assist attorneys with a variety of civil cases. Open to law students.

Information Technology
The CAO IT team supports nearly 200 desktops, laptops, and other devices used by CAO staff. CAO IT works collaboratively with senior planning and management staff in the City of Seattle’s Department of Information Technology to implement improvements to citywide data and security systems.
