Social Responsibility

Social Responsibility at Our Core

As a local, not-for-profit, public utility we are committed to improving the lives of our customers and their communities. Our community and our environment are at the core of everything we do. We don't just deliver power, we support educational, economic and environmental development and protection. We give back - from employee giving and volunteerism to programs that assist our customers and their families. And, we actively promote social justice to ensure equity in our rates, our programs and our business.

Helping 42,000+ households

The Utility Discount Program helps more than 42,000 households reduce their energy burden and maintain access to critical electricity services.

Promoting Social Equity and Diversity

We're dedicated to the City's Race and Social Justice Initiative (RSJI) focused on eliminating racial disparities to achieve racial equity in the Seattle area. We proactively apply a racial equity toolkit to assess policies, initiatives, programs and budget issues and ensure equitable access to services while avoiding unintended consequences. Learn more about the RSJI.

We also actively support diverse businesses through City of Seattle contracting opportunities for Women and Minority-Owned Businesses (WMBE). Find tools and assistance to help your WMBE do business with us.
